47 Chairs is 74 funny, poignant minutes comprising four stories titled “ Cancer,” “ 5th Grade,” “ Fast Daters,” and “ Alma Mater.” It offers an engrossing experience that is over all too quickly. Klett, a superb story teller, wrings a lot of humor not only from events themselves but also from his liberal employment of striking and often hilarious similes and comparisons. With the shows deft mixture of comedy and sincerity, acuity and pathos, by the time the performance ends on a deeply moving note Klett brings the audience to that enthralled hush that bespeaks complete immersion.
